We Got The Blimp

I, like many others, saw the Blimp floating around town yesterday - obviously not an unusual sight in Akron. It flew pretty much right over my house and I had my longer lens on my camera so I snapped this....and it gave me an excuse to post a link to CD Truth's video for 'We Got The Blimp' on YouTube - a must listen for any proud Akronite.
(Oh heck - check out 'Follow Me to Akron' and 'I Hate Route 8' while your there).

Tim, I was a little boy in the 50's and I saw the Blimp fly over. I ran home and asked my dad what that scary thing in the sky was. This was a time when jet aircraft would "sonic boom" the neighborhood and scare the crap out of us. Aircraft of that era were very loud and noise was unregulated.
I sill love to see "THE BLIMP"
Helicopters were becoming very commonplace when I was a kid. We would run outside to see a copter fly over and wave to him.
Nice to think that there were days where people were NOT overstimulated as today and a coll aircraft flying over was a way/cool event.
One time a B-24 Liberator flew in to the county airport and we looked forward to seeing it for weeks
Last week, I vistied the Virginia air & space museum in Hampton
Dont forget that you Akron folks have a proud aircraft heritage- The Blimps and the Corsair fighter of WWII fame which kicked the Japanese Zeros asses with ease.
Of course Akron tires have flown on ever type of aircraft
i grew up in firestone park, so every summer the blimp would be a regular visitor in our skies. my wife's niece came up from mississippi for our wedding and when the blimp flew overhead, her mind was blown. she had only seen the blimp on TV. it was nice to see someone be amazed by something that is so commonplace around here. really made me appreciate the blimp's appearances that much more knowing that others don't ever get to see it...
Sammee, it is fun to see the reaction of out-of-towners to the blimp. When I lived in New Jersey, I was near a military base. I'd constantly stop to stare at the planes.
